Minnesota Bear Hunt
Winner will receive a week-long bear hunt in Minnesota’s bear area 25 between Cook and Orr, MN, approximately 50 miles south of International Falls. Arrival day, 5 hunting days, departure/pack out day with Horse Creek Outdoor Adventures, licensed master bear guide John Streiff.
Hunter is taken to and from a guaranteed active bait to hunt from a stand or ground blind. Shot distance is typically less than 25 yards, great for firearm or archery hunters. Lodging and meals are included, as is transportation to and from our local butcher shop. Processing/skinning are hunter’s responsibility. Butcher does an awesome skinning job for a reasonable fee, butchering cost depends on your preferences. Very experienced bear processor.
Camp is semi-primitive. We have electricity and a shower house, water is carried in as there is no well as of now. Hunter stays in our bunk house, which has a couch, bunk beds, tv and mini fridge. Hunts are primarily in the afternoon/evening leaving your mornings to explore locally or enjoy some Minnesota fishing on your own. The beautiful Vermillion Falls are within a half hour drive, Cook is 15 minutes away with gift shops, gas stations and a grocery store.
Bear permits are on a lottery basis. The Bear Guide Association has been fighting for guaranteed permits but so far has not won the battle. Lottery opens in the spring and reminder emails and phone calls are made so you don’t miss your opportunity. As of lately average draw is 3 points for our area, one point per year.
Typically the opening 2 weeks are a warm weather hunt, after mid-September weather can change. For questions, contact Sarah DeJournett, (618)231-8303 or John Streiff, (612) 290-2336 or visit our website.
These items, as well as the previously announced African safaris, will be up for auction at the Awards Banquet at the 2018 NTA Convention, Competition, and Trade Show. We hope to see you there!
