July 14-17, 2010—Big City Amenities & Small-Town Charm

Springfield is located in the heart of the Midwest. Interstates 72 & 55 intersect in Springfield, making it easily accessible from anywhere in the United States. For those arriving by air, Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport has multiple arrivals and departures connecting to major airports daily. Springfield also offers regular service from Amtrak and Greyhound.

Come visit the NTA in Springfield and enjoy a perfect balance between on-the-go activities and evenings filled with blissful relaxation. The NTA is not just a convention…it’s an experience you can share with the entire family. We have designed an adventure for you and your family. The NTA Board has chosen the Crowne Plaza Springfield in Illinois, as our host city for July 14-17, 2010.  With first-class seminars, competition judges, accommodations and great food, this summer getaway will provide members with a winning combination for a family vacation.

The NTA hosts one of the leading conventions and trade shows with exhibitors and attendees worldwide. Everyone has the opportunity to see the very latest equipment and products, and deal on a one-to-one basis with suppliers by asking questions and making suggestions for items they would like to see in the future. At all NTA conventions, members can attend educational seminars viewing techniques used by those who are recognized as being the best in our profession. A wide range of seminars are planned so there is something for everyone.

The NTA hosts a taxidermy competition at each convention where you may enter examples of your artistic creations and compete for cash awards as well as ribbons, trophies, and honors such as “Best-All-Around Taxidermist,” “Distinguished Taxidermists,” and “Taxidermist of the Year” just to name a few. Each entry is given a detailed score sheet to show needed areas of improvement and the judges are available to discuss any questions you may have. Points are awarded to entries based on its own merits and these are used to earn the “NTA Award of Excellence,” and “NTA Certification.” The NTA sanctions other competitions on a state and regional basis where you, as a member, may also earn NTA points. On Saturday night, the NTA hosts their banquet where you will have the occasion to witness the industry’s leading artists of tomorrow as they earn their titles of recognition.

Each night and day at an NTA convention provides something new and exciting. There will be 2 auctions with the first being held Friday night and the other on Saturday night. There are raffles and silent auctions too!  Save on shipping costs and shop with the suppliers in attendance.
