NATIONAL TAXIDERMISTS ASSOCIATION
Benefits
NTA Membership Has Its Privileges

Many of you have read the member benefits of the NTA. Please keep in mind that these benefits are of great value to many members while they may be of minimal value to others. The objective is to do as much for everyone as possible. The following are just a few of these benefits with a short summary.

  1.    $10,000.00 AD&D policy
In the last 3 years this policy has been paid out twice. I think you will agree that it is a subject we don’t care to think about but is needed by the surviving families. (Many taxidermists have no death or dismemberment policy, as they are self-employed). Additional insurance is available for members to cover health needs at reduced rates through this same company.

  2.    Certification
This program in its design is wonderful and is up and running full force. Thank you to Frankie Thompson and Larry Blomquist who has chaired certification since its birth. This is what commitment to the tasks of a volunteer can do. This program is giving those involved 500 brochures and advertisement that many could not or would not be able to afford at an extremely low cost.

  3.    Charlie Fleming Scholarship Fund
The CFEF this year alone has given 9 NTA members and/or their children $500.00 towards education. This is more than a return for those members. In some cases it surpasses the dues that these members have paid into the National Taxidermists Association since they joined.

  4.    NTA Award of Excellence
This award is the most prestigious award that is earned by accumulation of points from any NTA affiliated state or regional competition using NTA judges, competition rules, and scores sheets, with at least one national competition. There are numerous competitors that have achieved this award and not only use it in their advertising but also find themselves with a greater self-esteem due to their achievements of earning this award. This program is the most accepted and functional awards program available. We like to think it is a very challenging and fair program as well. This is an EARNED award by the competitor.

  5.    Judges Handbook
The new and updated Volume II was established for use of all affiliated chapters and is a convenient guideline for referencing those individuals recognized as a sanctioned judge for competitors that require an impartial and consistent judging of their work as they compete from state to state accumulating points for the A of E. Judges included in this handbook must meet the criteria necessary to do a proficient job at your competitions. We are proud of this great program.

  6.    Competition Rules and Score Sheets
NTA competition rules and criteria are part of the competition program. As you know the scoresheets are also part of the accepted program that is used in NTA affiliate and sanctioned competitions that are held in the U.S. These are trademarked and copyrighted property of the National Taxidermists Association.

  7.    Outlook Magazine
This is the communication lifeline between the National Taxidermists Association and its members. The articles and information of our industry as well as a calendar of events for our affiliate conventions and competitions are flourishing with the latest information from our affiliate associations. It is important that affiliates fax, mail, or email their information and show highlights to NTAHQ for inclusion in Outlook. (It is requested that this information be mailed promptly after the event along with photographs in order that it may be included in a current issue of Outlook and not several months later.) The Annual Report that lists the entire NTA membership around the world and gives a full accounting of finances of the NTA is an expanded issue of the November-December Outlook. This is a great reference daily for those wishing a mailing list and contact information.

  8.    NTA Wildlife Conservation Fund
This would take several pages to list the numerous accomplishments, successes, and achievements that have been made. The political alliances with Conservation Force and representation yearly at the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus have been phenomenal for the National Taxidermists Association.

  9.    Freight Benefits Company
The NTA heard its members with concerns of high shipping rates and went to work on finding a solution that would create savings for taxidermists and their clients. Discounts are available to NTA members at a 52% discount for large item shipments with Yellow Transportation Trucking Co. and Federal Express discounts up to 63% are also available for those members who take advantage of these programs. This program has saved members hundreds of dollars that have taken advantage of this program.

  10.    Other member benefits include:
NTA affiliates retain $2.00 per member new or renew, $100.00 for yearly hospitality room at your convention (you are to contact NTA treasurer for requested mailing), First class mailing of dues notices, complimentary accommodations (Tuesday - Saturday) at NTA convention, complimentary convention registration, and banquet ticket for affiliate president or designated officer which requires attendance at board meetings with a special drawing for a hunt to be determined yearly, no yearly affiliate dues, sanctioned competition and credit of competition points for your members, NTA Recognition Award, use of NTA scoresheets, scoring system and awards.

  11.    Complete list of direct benefits
Certificate suitable for framing, pocket card with NTA number for tracking certification and A of E points, reference photographs, $10,000.00 AD&D insurance, optional health, business and client trophy insurance, Outlook and Annual Report, election voting for NTA officers and board members, attendance at NTA convention with paid registration, competition points earned at NTA competition and sanctioned affiliate events, Certification, Award of Excellence, and Charlie Fleming Educational Scholarship.
